Many descendants of the political elite end up following in their parents’ footsteps. You have your John Quincy Adams, your George W. Bushes and (God forbid) your Ivanka Trumps. But Malia Obama is here to shake up that tired tradition. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Barack Obama’s eldest daughter got the plum role as editor of a future project for Donald Glover, who signed a multiannual general agreement with Amazon for an impressive eight digits (for those counting, that’s at least 50 times more than that the president wins). Glover is leaving his contract with Disney-owned FX, home to his critically acclaimed series Atlanta, which has been on a hiatus since 2018 and is expected to start production in seasons three and four in March. His brother, Atlanta Writer and producer Stephen Glover also signed a general agreement with the streaming platform, so apparently Amazon’s businesses are in the Glover family.

Donald Glover’s general agreement is supposed to lead him to create, produce and manage content for the streamer. On the agenda, apparently, Hive, a series of watchmakers the writer Janine Nabers, who apparently follows a powerful pop-star figure (got it? Like Beyhive). Enter Harvard-educated Malia Obama, a former Weinstein Company intern (dark), who was reportedly hired to write for the series. Amazon declined to comment on the Hive series or the employment status of Malia Obama. Still, the mind runs with possibilities. Will Donald Glover implement a “Day to bring your parents to work” to the writers’ room? Malia will receive a story credit on the recently announced Glover Mr. AND MRS. SMITH remake starring him and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, given their familiarity and proximity to highly classified information? How do you reject a joke from a former president’s daughter? In any case, “My meeting with the president’s daughter” is out
(sorry, Tiffany). It’s all about “my Draft With the daughter of the ex-president ”today.
