Major Elder Scrolls Online DLC drives players into oblivion in June

Developer ZeniMax Online Studios and publisher Bethesda Softworks went to Twitch to reveal the one-year adventure of The Elder Scrolls Online, a series of DLCs that make up Gates of Oblivion. These expansions introduce new content for players to try on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia and Xbox One.

There will be four pieces of DLC scattered throughout the year. The first, Flames of Ambition, falls March 8th for PC and Stadia, and March 16th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Meanwhile, the Blackwood chapter as the main attraction comes out just two months later: June 1 for PC and Stadia, and June 8th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The other two expansions, an unannounced dungeon pack and an unannounced story zone, are launched in 3rd T and Q4, respectively. The exact release dates have not been stamped.

The Flames of Ambition begins the Gates of Oblivion adventure. The expansion introduces two new PvE dungeons – Black Drake Villa and The Cauldron – that challenge players to attack a sanctuary belonging to Prince Deadric Mehrunes Dagon to find a tome before it is destroyed. Players will be joined by some familiar faces, including newcomer Eveli Sharp-Arrow and recurring character Dremora Lyranth, and can unlock new equipment and collectibles.

The Blackwood chapter is the focus of the Gates of Oblivion adventure and comes with a number of additions, such as a new zone, missions, game mechanics and improvements in quality of life. More than 30 hours long, the expansion offers a brand new storyline for players to try alone or with an NPC ally through the new Companion system.

With Companions, players can recruit, travel and fight alongside an NPC who will have their own personalities. These allies can join players on most adventures, level up, and use custom equipment and skills to help while walking Tamriel.

As for the story, the Blackwood chapter takes players to several familiar locations, including the Imperial City of Leyawiin first seen in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The main storyline challenges players to discover a conspiracy theory orchestrated by Prince Daedric. There are also tons of new equipment to collect, side missions to embark and world events to participate.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood is now available for pre-order and comes with unlocks, such as an outfit, pet, experience scrolls, treasure maps and a box of Iron Atronach stuffed with other in-game items. The Blackwood chapter is found in some editions that feature only the expansion itself or the expansion, the basic game and previously released chapters. On the other hand, players who already have all the content of The Elder Scrolls Online can get the Blackwood Upgrade edition to participate in Gates of Oblivion.
