South Carolina Gamecocks have two appointments in their 2022 recruiting class.
Three star offensive challenge Grayson Mains, who visited campus with his father last Friday, joined security three stars Anthony Rose in South Carolina’s 2022 class on Thursday. Mains collected 15 offers during the recruitment process, but Michigan and Tennessee also held positions in their leadership group.
“I just love what Coach Beamer has done so far and I feel like he will be able to change that program,” said Mains.
Technician Shane Beamer and offensive line coach Greg Adkins teamed up with Gamecocks in their search for the 1.8m high prospect at Lambert High School in Suwanee, Georgia.
“We talked about anything,” said Mains. “We cut it every day, really. Listening to Coach Beamer and Coach Adkins almost every day, just checking, seeing how we’re doing. We talked about everything. “

Mains, which was ranked by compound 247Sports as number 62 of the offensive tackle in the class of 2022, is also 62 among all candidates in the state of Georgia. He is the first striker to commit to South Carolina, with Beamer as coach and Adkins working on the offensive line.
“Oh, man, (Beamer) is a great coach,” said Mains. “He is going to change this program. Anyway, from the father too, from all this. He’s a great guy. I’ve been watching a lot of your press conferences lately. He looks like a nice guy. “
Adkins certainly made a strong impression, too.
“I love him,” said Mains. “He knows a lot about the game. He’s definitely one of the best out there. “
And it certainly helps that he saw the South Carolina campus for himself, not just on a virtual tour.
“That campus was beautiful. … Also, being able to be in Columbia and see everything – we were able to see a little more of the facilities,” said Mains. “Things were a little more spread out. I couldn’t get into anything, but seeing everything from the outside was beautiful. “
