The recruiting cycle for the 2022 class is still in its infancy and players are behind because of the nearly one-year restrictions put in place because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of the players were on very few campuses and the coaches could not be on the road to see them.
Coaches and players need to adapt and both sides are doing their best to make informed decisions.
Gamecocks offered eight of the top 12 players in the state of South Carolina in the 2022 recruiting class. Of those 12 players, three have already committed to different programs. Two players who were offered pledged to Clemson and one player who was not offered made his verbal promise to Arkansas.

There are nine players from the state of Palmetto who are still undecided in their recruitment, but even the three who made verbal commitments can always change their minds.
