Magic 97, Wolves 96: Another breakdown

We’re going to be short and kind tonight, okay?

Minnesota jumped to a double-digit lead in the second quarter with a massive run, reaching a point reaching 32-6. Orlando scored a total of 8 points in the second quarter and made just 35 in the break.

Minnesota built their lead with the back of D’Angelo Russell’s wonderful shot and a strong game from Jarred Vanderbilt and Jaden McDaniels in the top position. I will leave with a longer post tomorrow, but the main positive point tonight was that the Wolves seem to have two players capable of playing against the 4.

Unfortunately, the wolves were once again unable to maintain the lead. Once again, they took their foot off the accelerator and failed to fend off the opposition. They scored 5 points in the last 6:32 of the game.

Minnesota was overtaken by 17 points in the second half, the last three of which were Cole Anthony’s victory, which came after Minnesota inexplicably failed to time out before Jarred Vanderbilt could be knocked out. Yes, Vando could have done just the free throws, but Minnesota is leaving the arena with two timeouts in its pocket. Maybe they will use it in the next game.

Anyway, whatever. These losses are starting to become incredibly demoralizing. This team needs Karl-Anthony Towns back, yes, but this was another game that they could have won and didn’t win. It’s early, but the (not so) season is slowly passing.

I hope everyone is enjoying a good glass of red, and we’ll see you tomorrow morning for a more detailed reaction after this sting is gone.
