Madeleine McCann’s parents hopeful in search of a daughter

Madeleine McCann’s parents, who disappeared more than 13 years ago, say they still hope to find her – although the search was recently hampered by the coronavirus pandemic.

Writing a new year message on their official Find Madeleine website, Gerry and Kate McCann said their thoughts and prayers are with everyone who suffered during 2020, according to The Sun.

“Understandably, the investigation to find Madeleine was forced to slow down as a result of the pandemic,” they wrote. “However, it has not stopped and the hope, energy and determination to find it and discover the truth remain firm.”

The British child disappeared in May 2007 from her parents’ holiday apartment at a resort in southern Portugal. She was 3 at the time.

Christian Brueckner, a convicted German rapist, is the prime suspect in the case, although prosecutors said they did not have enough evidence to arrest him in the McCann case.
