Mack Wilson fixes barriers with Patrick Mahomes’ mother

When Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes struggled to stay upright during the AFC playoff game on Sunday, some of his teammates were not happy with Cleveland Browns linebacker Mack Wilson after his tackle left the Wobbly and disoriented QB.

After the game, fellow former Alabama fighters came to his defense, telling reporters that Wilson was not a dirty player. Wilson turned to social media to defend himself and wish Mahomes the best, and the quarterback replied, “Okay, brother!”

Some Chiefs fans also directed their anger at Wilson, including Mahomes’ mother, who wanted Wilson disqualified from the game.

Wilson responded with an explanation, which seemed to calm Randi Mahomes.

Although Patrick Mahomes left Sunday’s game in the middle of the third quarter, the Chiefs still defeated the Browns by 22-17 to end Wilson’s second NFL season.

Wilson had a late start in 2020.

When Wilson crashed training on August 18 with a “significantly hyperextended left knee”, the Browns feared he would miss the 2020 season. The injury ended up costing Wilson the first two games of the regular season, and he played only six snaps in the third.

After that, Wilson played in 14 of Cleveland’s 15 games, with eight games. Wilson ended up playing 35 percent of Brown’s defensive snaps. He had 39 tackles, one loss tackle and two pass separations in 2020

While Wilson played a lesser role for Brown in his second season than one might expect before his injury, the former Carver-Montgomery star had a bigger role than anticipated in his debut season.

A pick in the fifth round of the draft, Wilson joined the starting lineup when Christian Kirksey was injured in the second game of 2019. Wilson finished second in the Browns with 944 defensive snaps and 82 tackles last season, when he also had four tackles for loss, one sack, two quarterback strokes, seven pass splits and a forced fumble.

The Chiefs advanced to the AFC Championship Game in search of their second consecutive trip to the Super Bowl. Kansas City is scheduled to play the Buffalo Bills at 5:40 pm CST on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. CBS will broadcast the game on television.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid told reporters on Monday that Mahomes was in the NFL’s concussion protocol.

“We are just going to follow that and see how he does here in the next few days,” said Reid. “… I leave it to (sports trainer) Rick (Burkholder) and the doctors. Because of the protocol, it is obvious to the technical team. You don’t have to think about it. I can’t tell you from a medical point of view where he is. I don’t know that. “
