The NFL’s 2021 recruiting class is filled with quarterback talent, ranging from various systems, playing styles and skills.
For some time, it was unanimously agreed that former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence will be the No. 1 overall pick, this year belonging to Jacksonville.
Other names like BYU’s Zach Wilson, NDSU’s Trey Lance, Ohio’s Justin Fields and Alabama’s Mac Jones are designed to be called up in the first round after Lawrence.
Classifying defenders after Lawrence is a frequently debated topic. Some argue that Fields will be the second defender removed from the board, while others believe that Wilson is the real ‘QB2’.
Former NFL coach for the Chargers and Falcons, June Jones, has a unique vision. He does not want to discuss who is second best in the draft class.
He believes the best available quarterback in the 2021 draft of the NFL is former Crimson Tide Heisman finalist Mac Jones.
“Mac’s deep ball accuracy is probably the best I have assessed in my years as a defender,” said June Jones. “He’s almost 55 percent over 20 yards, which is unbelievable.”
Jones also received a lot of praise for his ability to read his options.
“(Mac Jones) is a receiver observer,” said June Jones. “I could tell by watching him on television when they had the right camera angle. And I really think this is very important to him. It’s how he naturally launches the ball deep. “
Jones is currently designed to be a middle choice for the end of the first round.
