Many people on the far right of the political spectrum – including “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys” star Kevin Sorbo – are spreading a false narrative about the violent mob of conservatives who attacked and occupied the US Capitol on Wednesday: which it really was. “Antifa” was that. And Lucy Lawless, who starred in the spinoff of “Hercules”, “Xena: Princess Warrior”, didn’t like Sorbo’s nonsense much.
On Wednesday, Sorbo tweeted with quotes from a right-wing agitator who was spreading misinformation about the terrorists. “Do they look like Trump supporters? Or left agitators disguised as Trump supporters, ”asked the agitator.
“They don’t seem patriotic to me …” Sorbo replied.

And on Thursday afternoon, Lawless entered the fray with a hay for his former TV colleague.
“No, peanuts. They are not patriots, ”Lawless sarcastically agreed, before leaving for the killing. “They are your flying monkeys, homegrown terrorists, QAnon actors. They are the assholes who go out and carry out the evil orders of people like you, who like to roll them up like toys and let them do their worst. #keepingYourFilthyHandsclean #enabler ”

Several right-wingers are defending this completely baseless theory that liberals have infiltrated pro-Trump protests against democracy and instigated the violence that the crowd has committed. Some, like Sorbo and several Republican members of the congress, are all on that idea, while others, like Sean Hannity, were a little more circumspect in their language so they can say they are “just asking questions” or something.

That idea permeated the extreme right’s sphere of influence on Thursday, although it is completely false. The conspiracy theory comes from the conservative Washington Times, who published an article on Wednesday alleging that a facial recognition software company identified leftist agitators in the frenzied terrorist crowd.
The only problem? The company mentioned in the story says that the Washington Times invented and issued an order to cease and desist against publication. The Washington Times then canceled publication of the article.
Sorbo was certainly not shy with his false statements on the subject. Not long after posting the aforementioned tweet, he was more direct in his posture in another tweet. “ANTIFA led the attack on the capitol building dressed as Trump supporters,” he said, incorrectly.
