LSU Tigers TE Arik Gilbert says he plans to transfer

LSU freshman tight end Arik Gilbert, ESPN’s 6th recruit in class 2020, says he is entering the NCAA transfer portal.

Gilbert announced his plans on Twitter.

“After careful consideration and collaboration with my family, I decided to enter the transfer portal”, Gilbert tweeted. “I would like to thank God for granting his blessings on me.”

The 1.80 meter, 90-pound Gilbert was third in the team with 35 receptions and had 368 reception yards and two touchdowns in eight games for LSU.

On December 9, he chose to stay out of the rest of the LSU season. Coach Ed Orgeron said he expected Gilbert to return to the Tigers in 2021.

Gilbert, ESPN’s best tight end and Georgia’s best prospect in the 2020 class, chose LSU over Georgia and Alabama. Your name has not yet appeared on the transfer portal.
