Zara Holland, a star on “Love Island” and Miss Britain 2015, was arrested while trying to leave Barbados with her boyfriend after he tested positive for the coronavirus, according to a report.
The 25-year-old beauty and her boyfriend Elliott Love were caught when they allegedly tried to board a plane to the UK to avoid being taken to a quarantine facility, The Sun reported.
The lovebirds – who planned to celebrate the New Year on the run from the Caribbean – could be attacked on criminal charges, including putting other people’s lives at risk and fines, according to the vehicle.
If convicted, they could end up spending up to a year in prison, he added.
Holland and Love were tested when they arrived on the island on Sunday afternoon and were ordered to isolate themselves in their hotel room to await the results.
When Love’s result was positive on Tuesday, the couple received red bracelets and said they would be taken to a military base that has been converted into a quarantine center, The Sun reported.
But before health officials arrived with protective equipment to take them to the facility, Holland and Love cut off their bracelets, booked a flight and ran to the airport in a taxi, according to the agency.
An employee at the luxury Sugar Bay Barbados resort reportedly spotted the discarded bands and alerted the police, who arrested the pair at the airport security checkpoint.
They were being held in a COVID-19 ward at St. Lucy Hospital.
Holland, who lost her beauty crown after “Love Island” showed images of her having oral sex under the covers at a competitor, now runs a fashion boutique with her mother.
Barbados chief physician Dr. Kenneth George said several British tourists had violated the island’s COVID-19 rules.
“There are three tourists who have a special interest. Two are in quarantine and one is in police custody, ”he told The Sun.“ Two were apprehended at the airport. This is a police matter and I hope that the appropriate evidence will be presented. “
