Louisville continues to win and remained at the top of the Associated Press women’s basketball poll.
The Cardinals are the only team remaining undefeated in the Top 25, after beating Miami and North Carolina last week. They received 26 of the 30 first-place votes in the poll released on Monday.
Louisville (16-0) faced his biggest challenge at ACC on Monday night with a visit from fourth place in the state of North Carolina. This would potentially be a 1 to 2 clash until Wolfpack lost in overtime to Virginia Tech last Thursday. It was NC State’s first loss of the season.
South Carolina jumped two places to second in the poll and received the other four votes for first place.
UConn lost for the first time this season, falling to then-No. 19 Arkansas last week, but remained third in the poll. Arkansas moved up three places to 16th. It is the first time that the Razorbacks have defeated two of the first five teams in the same season after defeating the then no. 4 Baylor in December.
UCLA closed the top five. Stanford, Texas A&M, Baylor and Arizona followed the Bruins. Maryland dropped three places to 10th after losing to Ohio. The Buckeyes moved up three places to 11th.
PAC-12 COVID PROBLEMS
Arizona and Oregon lost games this weekend because of problems with COVID-19 in their programs. Wildcats were supposed to play at UCLA and USC, but those games have been postponed. The Ducks had games against Utah and Colorado eliminated.
Arizona hopes to travel to Oregon to play against Oregon State on Friday and Oregon next Monday.
Cal has also had his last five games postponed because of the coronavirus.
GAME OF THE WEEK:
Tennessee in the state of Mississippi, Thursday. Lady Vols took the triple-double fourth in the history of the school in Tamari Key, which had 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 blocks in the victory over Florida on Sunday. Tennessee needs a victory over the 24th-placed Bulldogs to remain in contention for the conference title.
