Louisiana Police Release Scary Video of Deadly Gun Shootout at Gun Store

Louisiana police released surveillance footage of an armed robbery on Monday at a gun shop and shooting range that left three people dead and two others injured.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office showed clips edited at a press conference on Monday about the deadly theft.

Saturday’s shooting that left three people dead and wounded two more at a gun store and shooting range in Louisiana began when a customer refused to unload his weapon, a store operator said.

Jefferson Parish’s coroner said Herbert “Noah” Fischbach, 47, Jefferson, Veronica Billiot, 59, Belle Belle, and Joshua Jamal Williams, 27, New Orleans were killed in the shooting Saturday afternoon at Jefferson Gun Outlet in Metairie.

Sheriff Joseph Lopinto said earlier that the sniper initially hit two people inside and then several other people – whether store employees or customers – opened fire on the sniper, both inside and outside the building.

Lopinto said two other people were also shot and hospitalized in stable conditions. Michael Mayer, an arms store executive, identified Williams as the sniper.

He told The Times-Picayune / The New Orleans Advocate that Williams entered the store in the New Orleans suburb on Saturday with a loaded gun and was asked to unload by a compliance officer.

Mayer said Williams “got excited about the order, took the gun out of his pants and started shooting”. He said employees and customers responded to the fire and “eliminated the threat”.

Mayer also said he was limited in what he could say to the media, as the investigation is still ongoing.

Herbert Fischbach’s wife, Nancy, also confirmed that he was one of the three dead. She said Fischbach was a special effects specialist and gunsmith, who oversaw the use of weapons in film sets.

Nancy Fischbach said her husband worked at the gun shop because of COVID-19’s restrictions on the film industry. She believes he died helping people inside the store.

“He helped people,” said Fischbach. “He leaned backwards for everyone … he wouldn’t hurt anyone unless they did something wrong.”
