The Louisiana Department of Health reported 3,106 new confirmed cases of coronavirus and 54 confirmed deaths in its midday update on Tuesday.

The state releases vaccine data twice a week as part of its regular updates on coronavirus cases, hospitalizations and deaths. The initial doses are the first of two – three weeks apart – necessary for immunity.

Louisiana began reopening to Phase 1 on May 15 and May 16, then moved to Phase 2 on June 5. Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards extended Louisiana’s Phase 2 restrictions twice in August before moving the state to Phase 3 on September 11. The governor then moved the state back to a modified Phase 2 near the end of November.

This is a developing story. More details and analysis are to come.
