Louis Nix, absent Notre Dame, NFL player, found dead: report

Louis Nix, a former defensive NFL striker who was a college highlight in Notre Dame, was found dead after disappearing earlier this week.

Nix’s mother confirmed the death of her 29-year-old son to Ben Becker, a reporter for FOX 30 in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office also confirmed that Nix was found, but did not immediately comment on his condition, the Jacksonville Florida Times-Union reported.

Nix, a third-round pick by the Houston Texans of the NFL in 2014, reportedly disappeared in Florida, Becker of FOX 30 previously reported, saying that Nix’s mother had not heard from her son for a few days.

“The last communication from someone who saw him was on Tuesday,” Nix’s mother told the channel. “I can’t call him because his voicemail is full and the people he talks to on a daily basis haven’t heard from him. Unlike him.”

Nix’s mother believed that her son was in danger. The previous Saturday, Becker tweeted that the mother had no new information about her son’s whereabouts.

A three-year holder for Fighting Irish, Nix was shot in December while putting air on his car tires. Nix said at the time that the bullet hit his sternum and entered his lung, which was removed during surgery.

After his short stint with the Texans, Nix was eventually claimed by the New York Giants and then joined the training teams of the then Washington Redskins and Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016. Nix underwent several knee surgeries, which ended up putting end his career in the NFL.
