Los Angeles Angels’ Jose Quintana agrees to a 1-year contract, the source said

The Los Angeles Angels, desperate to add initial releases, agreed to a $ 8 million one-year contract with veteran southpaw Jose Quintana on Tuesday, a source confirmed to ESPN.

Quintana, who previously played under current Angels coach Joe Maddon, while with the Chicago Cubs, was limited to just 10 entries in 2020, mainly because of thumb surgery. Before that, the average 31-year-old was 32 games from 2013 to 2019, setting an ERA of 3.72 with a streak to walk ratio of 3.23.

Quintana joins a rotation that includes Andrew Heaney, Dylan Bundy, Griffin Canning and potentially Shohei Ohtani, fitting somewhere near the top.

Quintana is the fifth addition in a year made by general manager Perry Minasian, after shortstop Jose Iglesias, nearest Raisel Iglesias, catcher Kurt Suzuki and left reliever Alex Claudio. They will come together to make $ 23.25 million in 2021.

Atlético first reported the deal.
