Lori Loughlin was released on Monday from an East Bay federal prison about 40 miles east of San Francisco after serving time for her participation in the 2019 college admission scandal.

The Hollywood couple initially pleaded not guilty when charged with paying $ 500,000 to take the two daughters to the University of Southern California under false pretenses. Defiant in the charges, the pair was due to go to trial in October. However, in May, they changed course and pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges to close a deal. Loughlin, 56, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit electronic and postal fraud. Giannulli, 57, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit electronic and mail fraud and honest service electronic fraud.

Through this agreement, prosecutors agreed to dismiss aggregate money laundering and bribery charges from federal programs.
