Of the 39 entries that include ages, 14 are under 65 and 25 are over 65. In the city of Chicago, where Loretto is located, phase 1B included people aged 65 and over and essential frontline workers. It is unclear who was eligible as essential frontline workers, as only 10 entries in total were marked as “essential”.
Nearly two dozen names are employees of two Catalyst Charter Schools located in Austin and on the southwest side of the city.
Lilly is one of several politicians linked to the hospital.
State Representative LaShawn Ford, a board member, stepped down on Tuesday.
State Senator Kimberly Lightford, vice president of Loretto, said today that the board is finding out what needs to be done to overcome the controversy surrounding the hospital, but that it is behind CEO George Miller.
Dr. Anosh Ahmed resigned as Loretto COO and CFO after the safety net vaccine controversy. Vaccination events took place at Trump Tower, where Ahmed lived for about five years; at a Gold Coast watch store where the COO is a frequent customer; and at a steakhouse on the Gold Coast, where Ahmed is a regular, according to Block Club Chicago.
“There’s a lot at stake,” said Lightford, noting that Loretto, who serves a large number of low-income patients, is the largest employer in the Austin community. She added that council chairman Edward Hogan and mayor Lori Lightfoot spoke last night after the mayor called for an independent audit of Loretto’s dose administration.
“We were given a week to do a full investigation,” she said, adding that a full report is expected in two or three days.
A union representative working with the Loretto team told WTTW this week that members have complained about so-called VIP lists of vaccine recipients since January. “Certain groups would be pushed aside, even when there was a long line,” Wellington Thomas, an emergency technician, told WTTW.
“There have never been such VIP queues, unless people consider the occasional change of an elderly person or people who experience chronic pain and have a hard time standing in line for an hour to get to the front of the queue as VIPs, but otherwise did not exist, “said a hospital spokeswoman by email. But she didn’t answer questions about Lilly’s lists. Lilly declined to comment and forwarded questions to the hospital spokeswoman.
