A football coach usually needs to keep an eye on a Gatorade shower after winning a big playoff game. That said, most football playoffs aren’t usually broadcast on Nickelodeon … but Sunday’s wild card game Saints-Bears was, which means that the post-game bath looked a little different for Sean Payton.

Before New Orleans’s 21-9 victory over Chicago, Payton said he would love “get slimy, whatever that means“if your team came out victorious. For those who don’t know, it’s a longstanding tradition for Nickelodeon to pour green sludge over the heads of the stars that appear on the network. That same green sludge was worked on Sunday’s broadcast in several ways.

After the game, Payton maintained his willingness to participate in the tradition:

Good for Payton for keeping his promise, although it looks like goo can be a little harder to get out of a gameday suit (and hair) than a normal Gatorade shower.

Sunday’s contest aired on CBS and Nickelodeon, with the latest broadcast aimed at capturing and informing a younger audience. The experience seemed like a huge success from the entertainment point of view, as it was the subject of Twitter throughout Sunday afternoon.
