‘Long lost’ with the royal family

CBS has released a new clip of the long-awaited conversation between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry with Oprah Winfrey, in which Markle says of Buckingham Palace: . “

“How do you feel about the Palace hearing you speak its truth today?” Winfrey asks as the violins start to increase dramatically in the background.

“I don’t know how they could expect that, after all this time, we would still be silent, if there were an active role that the Firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us,” says Markle, using a nickname for the royalty supposedly originated by the king. George VI.

“And if that comes with the risk of losing things,” she adds, “it’s long since been lost.”

Much of the conversation surrounding this week’s interview was monopolized by accusations made against Markle, 39, that she intimidated at least two palace aides during her short stint at the firm. The Times of London quoted sources as saying that the Duchess of Sussex did indeed tear employees down during her tenure at Kensington Palace.

Markle called the allegations a timed “calculated smear campaign” for Winfrey’s complaint, while Buckingham Palace announced an investigation into the allegations on Wednesday.

Markle and Harry left the Royal Family and moved to the United States in a decision in January 2020 with breathless coverage, dubbed “Megxit”
