Long Island man steals tractor, hits target: police

Shopping on a Long Island man’s Christmas morning was not exactly a smash hit.

Police said a 33-year-old man from Deer Park sat behind the wheel of a 2010 Bobcat tractor parked in a Bay Shore shopping center and drove through the front door of a local Target store.

Justin Shuffle then allegedly drove back outside, parked the tractor and walked back to the store – where the police said he went out on a mini shoplifting.

When the officers showed up just before 2 am, they arrested Shuffle in the electronics department with a $ 78 coat and a handful of Target gift cards, the officers said.

“It is a very blatant act to use energy-building equipment to break a shop door,” said Suffolk County Police Sergeant. Jeffrey Walker told The Post Thursday.

“It looks like there really wasn’t a big plan here,” said Walker. “It looked like it was a one-time deal.”

Shuffle was charged with third degree theft and major fourth degree theft.

He was reported on Christmas morning at the First District Court in Central Islip, police said.

It was not clear whether he was sentenced on bail, but the two charges are not eligible for bail under that state’s criminal justice reform law, police said.

A call to Shuffle’s home was not returned.
