It’s been over six months since the South Carolina freshman started running again SeaShawn Lloyd he underwent end-of-season surgery on a torn ACL. With Gamecocks in just six weeks since the spring camp started on March 20, the head coach Shane Beamer says his red shirt freshman tailback is doing well.
“He was in my office this morning with Kevin (Harris) and it looks great, ”said Beamer. “You can say during his rehab that he didn’t take that break. It got bigger and stronger, that much is obvious. When you hurt a knee, you can’t do that much cardio, because you can’t run. It is important for him to get back into shape. I really like his mindset and behavior and the way he is working now. “
Beamer did not reveal how involved Lloyd will be in training in March and April, but seven to eight months after the surgery usually allows players to get involved in the field in some way.
“We still have a little more than a month to go before spring training,” said Beamer. “He has a good time until we get into that. We are certainly excited to see what it will look like when we turn up the volume next month. “
The spring cast of Gamecocks 2021 was released on Tuesday, revealing that Lloyd weighed up to 215 pounds out of the 210 he weighed at pre-season camp. It is 1.50 m tall.

Lloyd, the 5th running back of the Class of 2020 and the 43rd overall recruit, was on his way to being a big part of South Carolina’s attack as a real freshman. When Harris fell out of contact in the first week of preseason practice, Harris took the reins and ended up leading the SEC in racing yards in the regular season with 1,138.
With Lloyd back, Gamecocks will have a formidable duo for the first year running back trainer Montario Hardesty and offensive coordinator of the first year Marcus Satterfield. Other scholarships on the list are senior red t-shirts ZaQuandre White and freshman redshirt Rashad Amos. Class of 2021 signatory Caleb McDowell will enter the program during the summer.
