“Hey Lou” is the last single from Phair’s next studio album Sober. The song was produced by his longtime collaborator Brad Wood. Regarding the song, Phair said in a press release: “Have you ever wondered what the love of your favorite celebrity couple behind closed doors is like? Hey Lou imagines a day in the life of two music legends, whose union was an inspiration for rock bands and a source of curiosity for obstinate romantics. “

Phair shared his latest single “Good Side” in October 2019, coinciding with the release of his memoir “Horror Stories”. She released Girly-Sound for Guyville: the 25th anniversary box set in 2018; his last LP of original music was from 2010 Funstyle. After the announcement of Sober, Fair said the album was “tentatively” coming out last summer. The album has not yet materialized.
