Liverpool 0-1 Chelsea, Player Ratings: Mason Mr. Chelsea Best Mounted Game

A skillfully assumed goal and a fundamental involvement in almost everything Chelsea did all night, young Mason Mount is taking things to the next level right before our eyes – and doing so under the big shadow cast by Frank Lampard, who , although it is absolutely crucial in its development in the right place and at the right time, it was in some way an obstacle too, certainly from the public’s point of view (a la Sarri and Jorginho, although not so extreme).

This is now Mount’s sixth player on the pitch, the majority of the team, and fifth in his last eleven games. He also leveled up with Thiago Silva in the season’s highest average rating so far.

A particularly notable statistic out of all the noteworthy statistics after the game was that Mount now reached 20 Premier League “goal contributions” to Chelsea (goals + assists), and he is the second youngest in the club’s history (ie since 1992) to be done after Arjen Robben. Not bad!

Speaking of blooming before our eyes, Christensen is playing his best football for Chelsea, following his first Player on the Field for us with an equally, if not even more impressive, display.

As he is still only 24, he has a lot of time not only to continue playing at this level, but to get better and better – and not just as the anchor of a three-man line of defense.

N’Golo Kanté is a gift, said Thomas Tuchel after the match. I think that nothing more needs to be said.
