Republicans who supported former President Donald Trump’s impeachment attempt are now facing backlash from their voters.
Freshman deputy Peter Meijer, R-Mich., As well as more established members of the Republican Party, such as Senator Ben Sasse, R-Neb. And Congresswoman Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., Are defending themselves while voters express their displeasure.
QUICK FACTS
- Meijer, who arrived in Washington, DC, just a few weeks ago, fought with dissatisfied voters during a visit to the virtual city hall on Wednesday.
- Nancy Eardley accused Meijer, the only first-term legislator to support the January 13 impeachment, of betraying the district
Republican groups in three Nebraska counties voted to blame Sasse for attacking Trump’s unsuccessful efforts to overturn election results and for claiming that Trump helped incite the January 6 riot at the United States Capitol, the Omaha World-Herald reported.
