LIVE UPDATES: Merrick Garland faces Senate confirmation hearing

Judge Merrick Garland will face questions from both sides of the aisle about how he would manage the Department of Justice when he sits down for his Senate confirmation hearing on Monday at 9:30 am ET.

President Biden appointed Garland, who serves on the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, to be his attorney general on January 7. The hearing is scheduled to begin Tuesday at 10 am Eastern time.

Republicans must also pressure him on how he will handle the John Durham Special Council investigation into Russia’s investigation into Hunter Biden’s tax affairs and the New York governor Andrew Cuomo’s nursing home scandal.
