LIVE UPDATES: Maxine Waters sets hedge funds ahead of today’s GameStop hearing

The GameStop hearing, organized by the House Committee on Financial Services, is scheduled for today.

The panel’s chief, Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., Is turning her eyes to hedge funds, which she says has a history of “predatory short selling”.

“We need to deal with hedge funds whose unethical conduct has directly led to the recent market volatility,” said Waters in a statement.

Meanwhile, Senator Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Was not expecting to attack the Robinhood trading app.

On Wednesday, Warren released a response he received, dated February 12, from the company after requesting more information in a letter on why it abruptly restricted trading last month on some of the best-selling stocks, shaking retail and Reddit investor community.

“Robinhood’s response to my letter reveals that the company did not have enough money to manage an increase in trade and hid important information about consumer rights,” Warren said in a statement.
