‘Schitt’s Creek,’ Hamilton ‘and’ Soul ‘took the honors from home.

The Producers Guild of America is being distributed on Wednesday in a virtual ceremony.

Schitt’s Creek won the first prize of the night for a notable TV comedy series, earning the honor for its sixth and final season. The star and producer Eugene Levy said that by calling Schitt’s Creek the highlight of his fifty years in business would be an understatement. “This show was a joy to work with,” said Levy.

Soul won the animated feature film award, with producer Dana Murray giving credit to the team for finishing the Pixar project at home during the pandemic.

Hamilton, The theatrical recording of Disney +’s Broadway hit, a winner in the category of televised or broadcast films.

“Doing theater is usually like writing messages in the melting snow,” said producer Thomas Kail. “This was a chance for us to do something lasting and indelible that could be shared.”

Last week tonightJohn Oliver of accepted the award for live entertainment or lecture, mocking the fact that the nominees previously recorded their speeches. Oliver said: “I’m recording this in anticipation that we can win. If we don’t win, destroy it and give my congratulations to the real winner, who I imagine is Dr. (Mehmet) Oz. He had a good year!”

Also in front of the TV, RuPaul’s Drag Race won the honor of the game and competition on television.

black star Tracee Ellis Ross opened the show noting that the all-Zoom affair was an award ceremony unlike anyone could have imagined.

“It was a year like no other in modern history. But despite all the political, scientific and social claims for justice, one thing has remained unchanged: the need to have fun,” said Ross. “This is what we, as producers and artists, do. We entertain.”

The ceremony takes place a few days after the PGA revealed the winners in some categories during a full-day series of nominee panels organized by the guild: YouTube Challenging Gravity: the untold story of women’s gymnastics was elected exceptional sports program, HBO’s The power of us: a special from Sesame Street won the best children’s program; Apple TV Carpool Karaoke: the series it was elected the best short-term program; and the guild’s new Innovation Award was given to YouTube’s Burning Man project BRCvr.
