Although most retailers and restaurants close on Christmas Day, some places are open, including those on the list below.
Every year, when I post this list, I hear readers who are upset because not all companies are closed this holiday. I recommend that you remember that there are reasons why many of these companies are open, including:
* Allowing our essential workers to fuel on the way to and from work
* Give people a place to eat after a long shift at the hospital or fire station, for example
* Offer a place to buy over-the-counter drugs for a sick family member or friend
* Providing much needed income for essential workers who have been struggling to survive, especially during this incredibly challenging year (I hear from several people every year who say they offer to work for Christmas because of the premium payment)
Stores open on Christmas Day 2020
Circle K: Most locations are open according to the times listed in your site.
CVS: Most CVS stores are open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. CVS locations at Target stores do not open on Christmas Day because Target stores close on 25/12. Store and pharmacy opening hours vary by location. Most CVS pharmacies closed on 12/25/20. see the CVS website for specific times on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Family-friendly convenience stores: Most family fare locations will be open on Christmas Day.
Sheetz: Most Sheetz locations will be open. Watch their website for locations.
Highway: Many Speedway locations are open on Christmas Day. Watch their website for locations.
Walgreens: According to a Walgreens press release, stores will be open at normal hours on Christmas Day. Pharmacy hours vary by location on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Watch their website for the specific times of your location.

Asian cuisine in Durham: Open during normal hours on Christmas Day.
Boston Market: Selected Boston Market locations are open on Christmas Day. Watch their website to check if yours is open.
C&T Wok in Morrisville: They are open at normal hours on Christmas Day.
Cleveland Draft House: The Clayton location is open from 5 pm to 10 pm on Christmas Day. There is no sale of alcohol after 9 pm. They are also offering takeout food. See the menu on your website.
Denny’s: Denny’s selected locations are open on Christmas Day, although many are closing early. The Raleigh site on Wake Forest Rd is open until 3pm on 12/25/20. The website hours were not updated at the time it was published. I suggest you call your location to see if they are open.
Gourmet Kingdom in Carrboro: Open during normal hours on Christmas Day. See details in your site.
I HOPE: Most IHOP locations open on Christmas Day and Eve, but many are closing early on both days. Watch their website for the hours of your specific location.
Kababish in Cary: Open from 12pm to 6pm on Christmas Day.
McDonalds: Many McDonald’s stores are open on Christmas Day, although some have reduced hours. Checks their website for the specific times of your location.
Neo-Asia Restaurant (Neo-China) in Raleigh: Open from 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm on Christmas Day.
Neo-China in Durham: Open from 3:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Christmas Day, for travel only.
New Chinese Chinese restaurant in Cary: Open during normal hours on Christmas Day.
Orient Garden in Cary: Open during normal hours on Christmas Day.
Panda Express: Selected locations are open with reduced hours. Watch their website for details.
Peony Asian Bistro in Durham: Open during normal hours on Christmas Day.

Waffle House: According to a response we received from the company about hours on Chsirtmas, “Waffle House restaurants are traditionally open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (366 this year), including all holidays. However, some of our locations today operate in less than 24 hours because of the pandemic’s effect on our business. We strongly recommend that customers consult their local Waffle House for any variations in hours. ” their website for locations.
