Lisa Marie Presley celebrates her birthday with her daughters by her side

Lisa Marie Presley shared a rare family photo this week, as she celebrated her birthday, six months after the sudden death of her son Benjamin Keough, aged 27.

Presley, who turned 53 on Monday, shares a gloomy photo of dinner with his three daughters; Riley Keough, 31, and twins Finley and Harper, 12.

‘Thank you for everyone’s overwhelming birthday wishes. Like every day, I would not have survived without these three at my side. ‘Presley wrote.

The photo seemed to show the star and her daughters enjoying dinner together on an outside patio with sparkling string lights in the background.

Presley remains seated while her youngest daughters, whom she shares with ex-husband Michael Lockwood, are on either side of her.

Her eldest daughter, Riley, is behind her with her arms around her younger brothers.

Presley was not active on social media in the months following Benjamin’s death in July, when he committed suicide at the family home in Calabasas, California.

But in October she posted a heartfelt tribute to her late son on what would be his 28th birthday.

‘My beautiful angel,’ the singer-songwriter wrote on Instagram next to a photo of Benjamin when he is about to blow out birthday candles on a cake.

‘I loved the ground you stepped on, on this earth and now in heaven. My heart and soul went with you. ‘

Presley’s post continued: ‘The depth of the pain is suffocating and bottomless without you every moment of every day.

‘I will never be the same.

‘Please wait for me, my love, and hold my hand while I stay to continue to protect and raise your little sisters and be here for Riley. I know you would like that.

‘Happy birthday, my sweet boy. You were too good for this world. ‘

Presley ended the post with a sad emoji and a broken-hearted emoji.

In the same month, an autopsy revealed that Keough had cocaine and alcohol in his system when he shot himself after arguing with his girlfriend.

At the time, sources revealed that he was “fighting” and that his death, while devastating, was not a “big surprise” for his mother or other relatives.

Surveillance footage showed him arguing with his girlfriend, Diana Pinto, in his backyard.

He then went in, locked himself in a bathroom, put a gun in his mouth and shot himself.

Pinto heard the shot, went inside and had to use a hairpin to gain access to the bathroom. She found him dead and called the police.

It is unclear how much alcohol or cocaine he had in his system, but there were traces of both, according to the report released by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

The report also described Keough’s history of mental illness.

He had tried to take his life six months earlier, then spent three weeks in rehab four months before he died.

Keough was the son of Lisa Marie and musician Danny Keough, her first of four husbands. The two were together from 1988 to 1994.

Benjamin’s grandmother, Priscilla, 75, married Elvis Presley in 1967, but they divorced six years later. They had only one daughter, Lisa Marie, in 1968. Elvis died just nine years later.
