South Carolina defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey, who oversees the team’s internal defensive line, trained his group four times at spring camp, the last two training on cushions.
When Lindsey met the media for the first time since spring camp started on Monday after training, he was asked about all but one of his defensive tackles on the list.
“I am satisfied with the way the guys have been working,” Lindsey said as she began her press conference. “It is obviously a new defense with new techniques and exercises. The guys accepted it and have done a good job of it. “
Lindsey, who was born in Cheraw, SC and lists Morven, NC as her hometown, spent the 2020 season on Lovie Smith’s team at the University of Illinois, training defensive purposes. He served as a defensive coordinator at the end of Illini’s Penn State season after Smith was released from his coaching duties.
Lindsey came to Illinois after three seasons in Western Kentucky, where he worked with the current Gamecock defensive coordinator. Clayton White. Lindsey was the Hilltoppers defensive line coach in 2017, before training the defensive ends and serving as a recruiting coordinator in 2018-2019.
