If you’ve lived long enough, you’ve probably realized that no one is perfect. People deceive us and spoil everything. Friends and family do things that are disappointing. But if there is respect and love there, and responsibility for your own mistakes, it doesn’t have to be the end of a relationship. On the other hand, if someone did something really repulsive and unforgivable, you would probably eliminate them from your life. Like, let’s say they repeatedly demonstrated that they were a horrible and unrepentant racist. Or they imprisoned small children in cages. Or they encouraged a violent crowd to overthrow the US government, causing an uprising that left five people dead. For most people, that would be the kind of thing they would probably give up on! Particularly if the person who caused the insurrection continued to insist that he did nothing wrong, in the face of strong evidence to the contrary! Lindsey Graham, although he’s not like most people, that’s why he’s apparently willing to ignore the fact that Donald Trump it is a relentless monster.
In an interview with Axios on HBO, Graham said Jonathan Swan: “Donald Trump was my friend before the turmoil and I am trying to maintain a relationship with him after the turmoil. I still consider you a friend. What happened was a dark day in American history and let’s move on, so here’s what you need to know about me … I want this to continue. I want us to continue with the policies that I think will make the United States stronger. I believe the best way for the Republican Party to do that is with Trump, not without Trump. ”
Pressed by Swan about the fact that Graham won his re-election against Jaime Harrison Last fall and could break ties with Trump if he wanted to, the South Carolina senator offered the bizarre answer that it would be “too easy” to just say, from Trump, “it’s over, it’s done”. Of course, this is not the first time that Graham has defended his uncompromising loyalty to Trump, despite Trump being a completely despicable human being.
