Lindsey Graham called ‘traitor’ by the airport crowd

Supporters of President Trump raided Senator Lindsey Graham, RS.C., and verbally harassed him as he waited to board a flight on Friday from Reagan National Airport in Washington, DC

Graham was surrounded by security officers who accompanied him through the terminal while about a dozen people followed him, calling him a “traitor” and saying, “You know you were defrauded”.

The identities of the people are unknown, although several of them wore pro-Trump t-shirts and a spokesman for Graham suggested that some of them were supporters of QAnon.

In a video, first reported by Politico, a woman was at the terminal wearing a T-shirt that said “I love Trump” with the letter “Q” on the back – probably in recognition of the far-right conspiracy theory group – and shouted “One day you won’t be able to walk on the street anymore. It’s today.”

In a separate video posted on Twitter by conservative activist Mindy Robinson, another woman repeatedly shouted, “Audit the vote,” referring to a 10-day emergency audit that Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, defended in challenging the results. of the Arizona Electoral College.

Robinson said Graham “made the mistake of passing me and a mass of angry patriots at DC airport”

“All America wants is for you to AUDIT OUR VOTE and chase this election out of this massive corruption … and you won’t do that. We are not letting it slip, so expect more of that,” she added.

Robinson participated in the Capitol protest, which turned into a violent riot after pro-Trump supporters broke into the building.

She later claimed that Graham missed the flight, but the senator’s office did not check the tweet, telling Fox News, “We don’t discuss security issues.”

Graham found himself in trouble with Trump fans after he refused to join a handful of his Republican colleagues in objecting to the Electoral College votes, saying in a speech on Wednesday night that “enough is enough”.

Graham, who became a Trump ally after being harassed by Trump in the 2016 campaign, said the president had a “consistent” mandate, “but today … don’t tell me.”

“If you are a conservative, this is the most offensive concept in the world, that a single person could deprive 155 million people,” said Graham, condemning Trump’s repeated claims of a fraudulent election.

The South Carolina senator also supported Vice President Mike Pence, who refused to comply with Trump’s demands to send the results back to the states.

After the breach of the United States Capitol on Wednesday, Trump’s Twitter was frozen for a period of 24 hours. However, after his reactivation, he remained strangely quiet, posting only three times in the last day – most recently to say that he will not attend the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden.

The last president who refused to attend the inauguration of his successor was Andrew Johnson in 1869.
