Lincoln-targeted health measure runs until January 15

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KOLN) – The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) reminded residents on Wednesday that changes to the state’s Direct Health Measure (DHM) in effect on Thursday do not affect DHM in force for Lincoln and Lancaster County. The current local DHM started on December 18 and runs through January 15, 2021. An outline is below.

Restaurants, bars and other food establishments:

  • The sale of alcohol for consumption on the spot can be resumed in bars that do not sell food.
  • The parties must consist of eight or fewer individuals and must remain at least six feet apart.
  • Occupancy is limited to 50 percent of capacity.
  • Individuals should remain seated unless they request food or drinks, use the bathroom or participate in games.
  • Individuals should wear facial cover whenever they are not seated.
  • All establishments must stop serving alcoholic beverages at 10:45 pm and close at 11 pm.
  • The establishments can offer take-out and delivery for food orders after 11pm. Merchants may also offer take-away alcohol sales after 11 pm, as permitted by state law.

Meetings:

  • Internal meetings are limited to no more than 25 percent of nominal occupancy (cannot exceed 2,000).
  • Meetings in confined spaces outdoors are limited to no more than 25 percent of nominal occupancy (should not exceed 4,000).
  • Exceptions remain in effect to meet limitations for some core businesses, including, but not limited to, schools, supermarkets and retail stores, office environments and factories.
  • All major events with more than 500 people continue to be postponed until January 15, 2021, unless previously approved.

Pedal pubs and party buses:

  • Licensed companies that allow alcohol consumption on city streets can resume operations at 50% capacity.
  • Operators must maintain a passenger list for 21 days and provide the list to LLCHD upon request to assist in contact tracking.

Gyms:

  • Occupancy remains at 25% of capacity.
  • Indoor adult team sports involving two or more people, as well as contact or limited contact sports, such as basketball and volleyball, can be resumed with additional safeguards. Individuals should wear facial covers, unless they are actively involved in an activity that avoids the use of masks. Spectators are limited to no more than two per participant, and spectators and participants must remain at least six feet apart when possible.

The number of daycare centers, as well as religious meetings – including weddings and funerals – will be governed by the current state DHM.
