LINCOLN, Nebraska (KOLN) –
The city of Lincoln declared a snow emergency on Monday, which means that a series of parking bans will be implemented.
From 8am on Monday, parking is prohibited on both sides of all emergency routes for snow, buses and schools, and other major arterial routes. You can find a map of these streets here.
And the parking ban on the odd sides of residential streets (usually the south and west sides) also starts at 8 am on Monday. Parking is permitted on both sides of the residential streets.
The city asks residents to avoid parking on streets where there is a ban, even though the street appears to have been unobstructed.
The city is also asking residents to clear sidewalks, pedestrian crossings and open access to fire hydrants. If you would like to volunteer to clear the snow for those who cannot do it alone, you can register here or call 402-441-7644.
Snow emergencies were also reported for Monday in several other cities around Nebraska, including Hastings, Kearney, Syracuse, Yutan, Ralston and Eagle.
