Limited Run Games’ Scott Pilgrim launch was a huge success

– Not so limited, huh?

Last week, we watched the long-awaited relaunch of Ubisoft’s dynamic fighting game Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, which returned to digital stores a decade after its initial launch. Unceremoniously withdrawn from the sale in December 2014, it appears that fans are taking no chances when it comes to Sex-Bob-omb’s highly anticipated encore.

According to a tweet from Douglas Bogart of Limited Run Games, the retailer successfully exchanged more than 25,000 physical copies of the Nintendo Switch in the first three hours of the pre-order window, making Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game the biggest LRG launch of all time. This incredible number does not include physical pre-orders for the PS4, nor any digital sales made directly from the PSN, Microsoft Store or eShop.

He imagines that the return of the scrapper in retro style would generate a lot of money. Not only have old and new fans been clamoring for Pilgrim’s return for years, but people have been forced to snatch physical copies quickly, so that licensing or bureaucracy problems don’t make him disappear again. It was an incredibly astute move on the part of Limited Run to launch a physical launch, and it looks like the boutique retailer is ready to reap the rewards.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition is now available on PS4, PC, Xbox One, Stadia and Nintendo Switch. Physical editions are available on PS4 and Nintendo Switch via Limited Run Games, as well as a re-edition of the title soundtrack on vinyl and various items of cute brand merchandise, including keychains and pins.
