Lil Yachty, an action film that develops the assault based on the Card Game Uno

Rapper Lil Yachty is developing an action assault comedy based on Uno – yes, the card game – with Mattel Films.

Marcy Kelly wrote the script for the film, set in Atlanta’s underground hip hop world. Although the cast was not announced, Lil Yachty is eyeing the lead role.

“I’m very excited to be part of this film with Mattel,” said Lil Yachty, a musician best known for the songs “Broccoli” and “iSpy”. “I played Uno when I was a kid and I still play today, so turning this into a film based on the Atlanta hip hop scene I came out of is really special. For me, it comes close to home. “

Uno was created in a Cincinnati barber shop in the 1970s as a way for families to spend time together. Five decades later, the game is available in more than 80 countries. Mattel has owned the game since 1992.

Together with Lil Yachty, Mattel Films will produce the film with Kevin “Coach K” Lee from Quality Control, Pierre “P” Thomas and Brian Sher for Quality Films.

Executive producer Robbie Brenner and supervising producer Kevin McKeon will lead the Mattel Films project.

“At Mattel Films, we seek to explore stories that bring our brands to life in unexpected ways,” said Brenner. “Uno is a game that transcends generations and cultures and we look forward to partnering with Lil Yachty, as well as Coach, P and Brian Sher, to turn the classic Uno into a comic action adventure.”

Several films were based on Mattel products and toys, including American Girl, Barbie, Barney, Hot Wheels and Magic 8 Ball.

Lil Yachty is represented by ICM Partners and Uwonda Carter Scott. Kelly is represented by 3Arts Entertainment and JYWAMM.
