The Las Vegas Raiders now need a correct tackle after Trent Brown’s pending switch to the New England Patriots.
It’s a big hole because, when healthy, Brown was a dominant player in his position. Raiders have options, however. They can add a certain tackle in the free agency or draft, even so. there are urgent defense needs. The Raiders’ best option today is fourth-year striker Brandon Parker, who has yet to show that he can be trusted as a full-time starter. They could try to rehearse veteran Sam Young, but he, like Brown, struggled to stay healthy in 2020.
The free agency may be the best option, and while the idea of replacing Brown may be frustrating, there will be options. We were reminded of that Wednesday when the Minnesota Vikings launched the tackle Riley Reiff.

Reiff, 32, is entering his 10th NFL season. He’s not as good as Brown, but it would be a solid addition at a price probably more reasonable than Brown would have chosen.
Will Reiff be the next guy for Silver and Black? Possibly, certainly, but the point is that there will be options.
