LG’s newest wireless vacuum cleaner empties automatically

LG’s new vacuum cleaner, ridiculously called LG CordZeroThinQ A9 Kompressor Plus, should be a little easier to empty than most wireless vacuum cleaners. Your charging station is equipped with a “fully automated dust removal system”, which sucks the contents of the vacuum cleaner’s trash into a dust bag while the device is being charged.

We have already seen similar automatic emptying features in robotic vacuum cleaners, like the iRobot Roomba i7 Plus, but LG’s solution is more exclusive in the world of wireless vacuum cleaners. Samsung sells a Clean Station to work with your upright vacuum cleaner, but using it involves first removing the trash from the vacuum cleaner, instead of doing it automatically during charging.

As someone who often has to go to the trash can of their Dyson V10 vacuum cleaner to take out all the trash, I can see the appeal to automate the process. But for bigger jobs, like vacuuming an entire house or apartment, you will probably have to empty the LG CordZeroThinQ A9 Kompressor Plus in the middle of cleaning instead of waiting to automatically empty it when charging. Hopefully, the charging station’s dust bags are big enough (and cheap enough) that it doesn’t have to be emptied too often.

In addition to emptying the trash can, LG says that the charging stand equipped with a touchscreen can also house the six accessories and nozzles of the vacuum cleaner, such as the existing vacuum cleaner chargers from Dyson and Xiaomi. LG accessories include a 2 in 1 combination tool, a crevice tool, a pet nozzle, an electric carpet nozzle and an electric mop. Included with the vacuum cleaner are two batteries and removable washable filters.

LG’s press release does not say how much it will all cost or when it will be available. However, it promises that the LG CordZeroThinQ A9 Kompressor Plus will be on display at its virtual booth at this year’s virtual CES, so stay tuned virtually.
