LG OLED smart TVs are some of the best you can get, but you’ll have to shell out a little money for one. Although the company will start rolling out its 2021 OLED TV sets later this quarter, a solid 2020 model is hundreds of miles away on Amazon. Now you can get the 55-inch LG CX OLED smart TV for $ 1,350 – at a discount of $ 650 and almost the lowest price we’ve ever seen. Amazon’s standard selling price is $ 1,396, but there’s a coupon on the product page that you can cut with an extra discount of $ 47, reducing the final cost to $ 1,350. CX TVs are part of LG’s mid-range OLED collection and feature the company’s AI a9 Gen 3 4K processor, 120 Hz refresh rates and support for NVIDIA G-SYNC, AMD FreeSync, Dolby Vision IQ, Dolby Atmos and more most. They run webOS and come with a “magic remote” that supports voice commands, but if you have an Alexa device or Google Assistant in your home, you can also control your TV with any of these virtual helpers. And being OLED devices, these TVs have some of the best blackest color and black reproductions you’ll find.
But, as mentioned at the beginning, LG’s latest OLED sets will be coming soon and they have a number of new features that the CX line does not have. The new C1 series, the new version of the CX family, will have an updated Gen 4 processor, LG Sound Pro, a new version of webOS with improved ThinkQ AI and a new Game Optimizer that promises 1 millisecond response times, low input delay and HDMI 2.1 support.
If you really want to get the best possible OLED set, which also has all the latest gaming technology, you might want to wait for the 2021 models to be released. The price in the US is not clear now, but we know that a 55-inch C1 set will cost € 2,000 in Europe (which translates to $ 2,420 in the USA, but we expect the starting price to be slightly less than that). But if the OLED 2020 CX sets have all the features you were looking for in a new TV, now is a good opportunity to get one at a great selling price.
