LG Wing dual screens are a little easier to use in a new software update

LG’s Swivel Wing was one of the most interesting-looking smartphones of 2020, but its unique design has been hampered by poor software support. A new software update, released today for Verizon’s exclusive device, appears to help address these issues by adding some new dual-screen functionality.

Specifically, Droid Life reports that the new update makes it much easier to send apps to and from the smaller screen to the main screen (a process that previously involved some menu confusion). With the new update, there is now a “submit” button that transfers applications from one monitor to another, along with a “restart” button to restart applications that have had a weak transition. You can also use a third finger gesture to perform a similar task. Finally, LG added app names to the home screen when the phone is rotated to open, making it more like the standard Android home screen.

LG also fixed one of the biggest problems with the second screen, adding media controls for all apps to the second screen when watching (instead of just a handful of selected apps, like YouTube). Apps like Netflix will now offer similar functionality.

There are also some other additional features in the update, including the ability to automatically scan QR codes in the camera application, a new wallpaper, a corresponding 5G icon and a November security patch.

If you have an LG Wing, you can install the update now, checking for a software update in the settings application.
