Many predicted that a “blue wave” would hit South Carolina in November. Instead, the opposite happened. Southern Carolinians voted a record number of conservatives in parliament.
Voters overwhelmingly voted for candidates – now elected legislators – who will uphold conservative principles. These principles are what make this state a great place to live and work.
For a long time, our state government has lagged behind the rest of the Southeast in three main areas that impact our daily lives – energy, education and taxes.
Our state still owns and operates a utility company as a state agency. This has to change. 2021 marks the fourth year in which our legislature debates the future of Santee Cooper. We voted for legislators who will make this year the last and who will vote for the sale of Santee Cooper to the private industry where it belongs.
All children deserve a quality education, regardless of their postal code. No family should be forced to send their children to bad schools, but many South Carolina families have no other option. Let’s make this year the year that education dollars follow the child.
South Carolina has the highest tax burden in the Southeast and the 11th largest in the country. This needs to change if we are to attract business and be competitive for good jobs, not to mention that we are going to let families get more than their wages.
Columbia, we vote on conservative principles. Are you going to vote for the Statehouse now?
