Letter: Protect Your Water Well, South Carolina

in JANET JORDAN || Private water wells provide water for nearly 40 million homes in the United States and 175,000 in South Carolina. While private wells provide clean and affordable water, experts agree that they should be inspected annually to ensure they are operating safely and efficiency.

The National Ground Water Association, in partnership with the Rural Community Assistance Partnership and the United States EPA, is announcing a new tool to make water well maintenance easier than ever.

WellOwner.org it has been completely remodeled to connect private well owners with resources to keep the well water clean and healthy.

WellOwner.org provides a digital well owner guide to maintaining your well, resources on how and where to test your well water and how to contact a certified water well contractor in your area!

With the growing concern about PFAs and other emerging contaminants, it has never been more important to properly test and maintain your private water well system. Water testing can identify contaminants in the well water that may be affecting you and your family’s health.

A certified water well contractor will be able to determine any problems with your water well system and provide guidance and services to keep you operating throughout the year.
