Lenovo today launched its new pair of stylish and lightweight AR glasses, called Thinkreality A3. The glasses can be connected to your PC or Motorola phone via a USB-C cable – but, unfortunately, it is still only for corporate customers.
The headset is powered by Qualcomm’s XR1 mixed reality platform. It has 1080p stereoscopic screens for each eyepiece lens. Have dual fisheye cameras to track and map the environment around you. In addition, an 8 megapixel 1080p camera that sits just above the tip of your nose, to transmit your vision to remote teams.
Lenovo says you can fold these glasses just like any sunglasses and put them in your bag. He will provide a carrying case with the device as well.
There are two editions of these glasses. The PC edition connects to your system and is designed to provide a virtual monitor experience; you can line up five of them. It can display your existing applications on these large virtual monitors without taking up physical space.

It looks like a great option for professionals who work from home and don’t have space for extra monitors. But the A3 won’t come cheap, and that means freelancers or creative people may not be able to use it yet.
There is also an Industrial Edition that allows you to tie the headset to selected Motorola phones and perform your tasks in RA. This will allow people working on the shop floor or on a manufacturing line to observe a large number of operations while on site. In addition, you can add extra lenses on the front for eye protection.
Lenovo faces competition from other players, such as Microsoft and Google, in the corporate market. However, he believes that now is a good time to stay around this market and not move to the consumer side.
Nathan Pettyjohn, commercial leader of AR and VR at the company, said that we will see RA being integrated into the work in the coming years:
In the next three to five years, we will see that the ability to use augmented reality anywhere and anywhere at work will grow exponentially. In addition, powerful chipsets and 5G implementation will allow us to create more use cases with this technology.
The company is planning to ship this product in mid-2021. We don’t know the pricing details for the ThinkReality A3 so far, but since the A6 was priced at over $ 2,000, the new device will not come cheap.
