Leicester’s approach to throwing outlines summed up his hold on Man United – The Athletic

Leicester City were superior in almost every way during their 3-1 victory over Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday. Their construction game was better, the pressure was more intense, they offered more interaction between their attackers and largely dominated the midfield. To put it simply, their level of organization was superior across the field.

The area that demonstrated this most clearly, however, was when it came to throw-ins. Until relatively recently, the pitches seemed almost separate from the larger tactical battle – either you had a long-distance shooting expert, in which case you launched it into the area, or the players were largely left to figure things out on their own. But a lot has changed in the past few years.
