Legislature honors Alabama military and veterans – Yellowhammer News

The UAB medical community and the Jefferson County Department of Health (JCDH) have given good news: COVID-19 has not yet been defeated, but “we are on the 10-yard line”.

“We need to continue to really follow the rules, get vaccinated and we will have the best chance of getting over it. … We don’t want to throw the ball before we are in the final zone, ”said Dr. Selwyn Vickers of UAB, senior vice president of medicine and dean of the UAB School of Medicine.

Vickers said he was grateful to UAB and the state for having the ability to overcome a difficult time.

“It was only in the past few weeks that this looked different from the 2020 continuation,” said Vickers. “Now it looks like we are really in 2021 because of the vaccine and the drop in cases (COVID-19) that we saw.”
