Leftist demonstrators wreaked havoc on the streets of Portland on Wednesday night, smashing windows at the Democratic Party’s state headquarters while shouting anti-police slogans, according to police and a local report.
Eight protesters were arrested on a series of charges, while hundreds of black-dressed protesters marched in the northeastern section of the city, the police department said.
Some of the arrests were linked to vandalism at Oregon Democratic Party headquarters, where protesters broke windows and defaced the building, police said.
One protester was accused of “reckless burning,” Portland police said.
Protesters, who were marching against police killings and “fascist massacres”, also threw rubble at police and police, reported a local Fox affiliate.
Protests hit the city on the same day that Democrat Joe Biden took office as president in Washington, DC
A banner carried by the protesters was emblazoned with an anti-Biden message calling for “revenge” for the “police murders”.
