In the original Left 4 Dead, there were four survivors: Francis, Bill, Louis and Zoey. Anyone who reads the game’s wiki, however, will think that there is a fifth cast member: Purple Francis.
Like some digging @thinkiamsad appeared on the weekend, user Lucythorkelson accessed the wiki on February 12 and went to town, creating the character (complete with his own biography) and then bothering to browse the rest of the pages and leave his casual mentions to the side of other survivors to make it look like he’s always been there.
In the elevator, Zoey asks Purple Francis if he likes monster movies, to which Purple Francis says they are not so good. Zoey, upon hearing this, mumbles to herself and looks away angrily. When Zoey dies, Purple Francis is less sad about her death, stating that “she is the type who holds a grudge”, referring to the decrease in her taste for Purple Francis after her commentary on monster movies. Fans see this as a prediction of Zoey’s dislike for Bill’s actions in The Sacrifice comic, even so, Valve said it was simply a coincidence. When Purple Francis dies, Zoey claims he was a great man, and regrets having done wrong to him due to what he said in monster movies.
Defacing a wiki is usually a boring bore, but I can go after it when it transcends this level of building the universe.
