LeBron’s first clip on ‘Space Jam’ is already a great NBA meme on Twitter

“Space Jam: A New Legacy” is scheduled to be released in July on HBO Max, which means we will probably have a full trailer for the pseudo-sequence of the 90s classic soon. But while we’ve already seen how the Lakers and future movie star LeBron James look like the new Tune Squad shirt on Saturday, a preview of the next Warner Bros. painting. gave us our first (albeit brief) look at James in action beside Bugs Bunny.

James shared only one clip of himself on his Instagram account, and it looks like he might be excited about the movie, but it’s hard to say, really:

And just as he and WB probably planned, the quick glimpse was just enough for the NBA’s Twitter (especially the Lakers segment) to become his latest and greatest meme:

Between the expression of confusion visible on James’ face – can you say a buzz from the beginning of the Oscar, anyone? – and the abject horror at Bugs Bunny’s, this is an incredibly versatile reaction meme that can be used in many more situations than the above, and I hope we start seeing it in people’s rotations quite often moving forward.

And who knows how good the movie is really going to be, but the visual style looks really cool, and if you give us more memes like this, no one will complain (ok, okay, it’s LeBron, so some people will complain anyway, but you know what i mean).

With only six months to go before the film’s release, it would be a surprise if we didn’t have a trailer during some big Lakers game, broadcast nationally on television soon, or maybe even during the Super Bowl. After all, it would be too much for LeBron to steal the football boom on his day off, and hey, he’s done it before.

But regardless of when we have our next look, this was a fun first. Or, to use the language of memes, “We when we first took a look at ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy'”.

Watch? I said it is versatile.
