Leaker Jon Prosser says airTags and new iPad Pro will be announced next month

Apple is slated to launch a series of new products this year, and the first product round may be just weeks away. YouTuber Jon Prosser, who has a mixed record of reporting on Apple’s plans, says that AirTags and new iPad Pro models are scheduled to be announced next month, presumably through a virtual event.

Prosser, who runs the technology news program “Front Page Tech”, tweeted earlier today that AirTags “are still on the air for March” and that he “hasn’t heard of more delays this time”. This is not the first time that the online personality claims to have information about AirTags, however. In October, Prosser stated that AirTags were “certainly” arriving at the November event, but that didn’t happen and the event was totally focused on Apple Silicon Macs. YouTuber too claimed that AirTags would be launched alongside iOS and iPadOS 14.3, which also did not happen.

Prosser has previously claimed March 2021 as a launch month for AirTags, but it’s important to note that Apple doesn’t normally hold events before March, so your claim seems to be a hunch. Finally, Prosser once stated that AirTags “probably” would be launched at the Apple event in September 2020, and that it did not materialize either.

On a side dish tweet today, Prosser reiterated his past claim that the updated iPad Pro models will be announced in March this year. There are rumors that new iPad Pros will be launched some time ago and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said he expects a launch in the first half of 2021, in line with Prosser’s March schedule. Again, it is important to note that Prosser did previously claim new iPads would be launched by the end of 2020, which did not happen.

However, YouTuber has been Apple’s source of accurate information in the past, including accurately reporting the exact date and time for the launch of the second generation iPhone SE in April and the updated 13-inch MacBook Pro in May, and he reported correctly launching an updated iMac in August, minutes before it became official.

The most reliable information to date on the AirTags launch comes from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who said last month that AirTags is on its way to a 2021 launch, although the analyst has not provided a more specific timeframe.

Leaker L0vetodream, which has a reliable track record, has cryptically hinted that AirTags can come in small and large sizes. AirTags are rumored to include replaceable batteries and work directly in the Find My app on iOS, iPadOS and macOS.
